sequel to LEGLESS IN TURKEY, this non fiction work details the
tribulations of the writer after her arrival home from Turkey: the fight for a
knee replacement, the attempt to keep the leg, dealing with above-knee
amputation, the inadequacy of artificial limbs, the horrors of phantom-limb
pain, and keeping afloat in a sea of red wine. Along with all of this go the
difficulties of isolation and alienation, and the struggle to write and regain
mobility and independence.
